Enhancement of Hydrocarbon Recovery from Geologic Formations

Professor Dr. Mohammad Piri received a 15-million research award from ACU Energy in Q3-2024. The project will focus on enhancement of hydrocarbon recovery from geologic formations using chemical additives and various advanced Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques. The project will be executed at the University of Wyoming’s (UW) Center of Innovation for Flow through Porous Media (COIFPM), one of the world’s most advanced research centers of its type and will train many graduate students. The project spanning over six years will include an integrated set of research and technical services elements at multiple scales (e.g Macro, Micro, Nano and Molecular). Members of the research and technical services teams at COIFPM will, in close collaboration with the ACU Energy professionals, combine state-of-the-art experimental and computational techniques in order to develop and test solutions for enhancing recovery from hydrocarbon reservoirs.
