The QEMSCAN 650F SEM utilizes scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray scattering to generate high-resolution mineral maps. This allows for quantitative mineral analysis of reservoir rocks that leads to a better understanding of wettability. Extrapolation of these analyses to other large-scale experimental data, such as that from the macro-CT and micro-CT, results in an enhanced understanding pore fluid occupancy and fluid displacement mechanisms, which may, in turn, lead to more efficient hydrocarbon recovery schemes.
